Report Objective

The National Security System Handbook describes national security as “the condition which permits the citizens of a state to go about their daily business confidently free from fear and able to make the most of opportunities to advance their way of life.”

The objective of our quarterly SITREPs is to provide a high level (regional) snapshot of key categories that provide insight into the safety and security of New Zealanders.

These categories include: (i) Violent Crime; (ii) Other Crime; (iii) Cyber Attack; and (iv) Incivility (identity and ideology-based violence).

Apart from providing a ‘bird’s eye’ view on security trends across the country from quarter to quarter, the SITREP focuses on key areas of vulnerability. It harnesses the analytics of the SecIntel platform.
